Indianapolis Colts Stadium
Only one venue has ever been the official Indianapolis Colts stadium, and that is the RCA Dome. Located at 100 South Capitol Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana, the RCA Dome opened in 1983. It was originally known as the Hoosier Dome, but electronics company RCA paid $10 million for the naming rights to the facility. The facility cost $77.5 million to build and uses a FieldTurf playing surface during football games. >From time to time, the RCA Dome also hosts basketball. In fact, it was home to Women's Final Four games in 2005 and will host NCAA championship tournament contests in April 2008. The RCA Dome is one of a dwindling breed. It is an inflated-roof domed stadium, meaning that the 257 ton fiberglass roof is help up by the air pressure in the building. The RCA Dome has been home to many of the team's 389 all-time wins throughout the years.

Indianapolis Colts Stadium: Past, Present and Future
Although the RCA dome is the only official Indianapolis Colts stadium in history, it was not the franchise's first playing field, nor will it be the last. The Colts franchise was founded in 1953 and played in Baltimore, Maryland for a total of 30 seasons. While in Maryland, the Colts called Baltimore's Memorial Stadium home. Following a winless 1982 season, however, and in want of a new stadium, team owner Robert Irsay commissioned Mayflower moving trucks in March 1984 to secretly relocate the team to Indianapolis. A fierce court battle ensued, but the Colts were ultimately allowed to stay in Indianapolis. They have called the RCA Dome home ever since, but all that will change in 2008, as the franchise is scheduled to relocate to a new retractible-dome stadium located just south of the current field's location. The RCA Dome is currently scheduled for demolition in 2010.
